A relaxed DIY marquee wedding photograph in Caerphilly South Wales | Kirstie & Braedan

When Kirstie and Braedan first got in touch with me about their DIY wedding, I was so excited – they were planning a relaxed outdoor wedding with a church ceremony and a BBQ on the church grounds in a marquee for the reception. Kirstie and Braedan are the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

I started at Kirstie's mum's house, where the bridal party was getting ready, and it was so chilled out because everyone was in a good mood. Kirstie wore a classic white dress and Braedan wore a navy suit and they looked really perfect.

The wedding took place at St Helens RC Church in Caerphilly and was a fun church ceremony. They had a few children at the ceremony, which at one point prompted Kirstie to tell them to quiet down.

After the ceremony, there was a big cheer from everyone and then the celebrations began.

The wedding reception took place on the church grounds who kindly gave permission, which they'd decorated with a marquee with tables and chairs, some LED lights and garden games. It was really unique.

It was a sunny day, which was perfect for photos. While the guests started to settle in for the festivities, we took a short trip across the road to Caerphilly Castle and took some lovely portraits. My favorite photo from Caerphilly Castle is the one with the castle in the background while they gaze into each other's eyes and kiss. Check it out below!

During the reception, they had a homemade bar, which had funny names labeled on the kegs.  For food, they had a BBQ which was cooked by a local chef from the Travellers Rest, and it was absolutely delicious. Afterward, they had some wonderful speeches and then the party got started. They put on their Spotify playlist, and everyone danced before the night settled in.
